‘Purple Dragon’ Heirloom Carrot, Organic
The history of Carrots is rather obscure as they not related to the wild Carrots that can still be found throughout Europe and Asia. They are believed to originate from the Middle East possibly from Afghanistan. Red, white and yellow versions spread across the region and eventually few a few centuries later into southern Europe. The orange carrots as we know them today were first bred in France and Holland in the 15th century. We can grow Carrots for many months of the year even though they are nowadays classified as cold weather vegetable and we will be growing many different and unusual varieties.
‘Purple Dragon’ is an old-fashioned heirloom variety that is particularly suitable for hotter climates.
