Watermelon, Crimson Sweet, Organic, India

Melons originated in Africa and southwest Asia and were grown in Europe by the end of the Roman Empire. Melons come in lots of different sizes, shapes and colours. We grow two genera of Melons. Citrullus,to which the Watermelon belong to and the largergroup of the Cucumis, which includes the Muskmelon (better known as Cantaloupe Melon), Canary Melon,Casaba, Honeydew, Riel de Sapo and Galia. There is evidence that Watermelons have been grown in Africa for the last 4,000 years. The popular European Cantaloupe Melon on the other hand was domesticated in the 18^th century in Cantalupo del Sannio in Italy by the pope’s gardener. We grow varieties of both genera throughout the summer and will try our best to continue to do so in the cooler months.
